If you are paying more than $50 a month — you should definitely consider lobbying for a better rate (when you call in to cancel)
I plan to cancel and get a SERO plan (Sprint Employee Referral Offer).
And it appears that people are doing something similar with Verizon (basically same CDMA network as Sprint but you don’t get the EVDO Rev. A, and it costs more) … but they do have great customer service and plan to go opensource this year.
