finally

no propaganda … just fyi

The WHO announced to today that it’s officially not swine flu anymore.

Instead the proper terminology is H1N1 influenza A.

The agency did say it hopes the change will have some practical effects, like helping convince governments there’s nothing to fear from live hogs and pork imports.

fluwiki i found though scienceblogs:

The Flu Wiki really has two main parts. The better known is the Forum. DemFromCT along with a dedicated band of regulars provide a multifeatured and extraordinarily informative discussion forum for the flu.

There is another part of Flu Wiki, however, which is not as well known. It’s a good place to learn the absolute basics of flu science, presented at the level of an intelligent lay person.

fallin’

it’s the track from that asher roth album that i can’t get out of my head — that sample is infectious.

it’s not the song of the day — but i like it.

google voice invite

Get a GOOGLE VOICE invite by leaving a funny message YMMV
Google is giving out invites to the new Google Voice (formally Grandcentral) to a select few that leave a funny message on the google voice invite hotline.

1.) Call this number (408) 72-VOICE
2.) Leave a funny message
3.) Get an invite

don’t know about google voice? here’s the faq

it’s pop. i know…

but it’s fun, too.

today’s song of the day is a much less mainstream track on the new asher roth album.

it’s got cee-lo and it doesn’t have anything to do with college.

check it out

and here’s that college song
don’t hate — it starts w/ an mc lyte sample :-)

bad news for us - Portfolio is dead

Condé Nast Publications Inc. pulled the plug on Portfolio magazine after less than two years.

I really liked that magazine. what a drag.

outsource yourself

low flying passenger jet + nyc

I’m sure that you’ve heard about it…but this footage is kinda cool.

way better than curling

i have heard curling called “chess on ice,” but it’s basically sending an object gliding down a narrow and elongated court with the purpose of having it come to rest within a marked scoring area.

now add electric shock and a girl in a bikini…

fun.

subprime from beeple on Vimeo.

Ole

it’s the song of the day.

geronimo under glass

wild stuff, man.

the rumor is that skull and bones (the yale secret society) has geronimo’s skull in a glass case — not me geronimo, THE GERONIMO.

here’s what Yale Alumni Magazine had to say about it. link

and here’s what his great grandson had to say about it… a lawsuit

can’t wait to hear what happens.

started my day with the new K-OS album.

It’s called Yes!

I’m on the fence…but the video is fun.

yo

i really dig the sample … even if the song isn’t all that hot.

it’s good enough for background music — i need to find the instrumental. just click on the link to listen

mayhem’s “one day.”

and if you haven’t heard:

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 20, 2009 — Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA) and Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Oracle will acquire Sun common stock for $9.50 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $7.4 billion, or $5.6 billion net of Sun’s cash and debt.

btw, it’s free cone day at ben & jerry’s :-)

regardless of how you feel about

what they do…

these guys kinda rock.

pirate bay says ftw … the site lives on

TPB FTW

So the first verdict finally came, almost 3 years after the raid. You might have heard about it in the news…

You, our beloved users, know that this little speedbump on the information super highway is nothing more than just, a little bump. Todays verdict has already been appealed by us and will be taken to the next level of court (and that will take another 2 or 3 years!)

The site will live on! We are more determined than ever that what we do is right. Millions of users are a good proof of that.

We have seen that some people that we dont know have started collecting donations for us, so we can pay those silly fines. We firmly ask you NOT to do this. Do not gather or send any money. We do not want them since we will not pay any fines!

If you really want to help out, here is a list:
* Seed those torrents a little bit more than you usually do!
* Buy a t-shirt and show the world where your sympathy is.
* If you live in Europe, vote in the election for the EU parliament in June.
* Continue to build the internets! Start more bittorrent sites, blog more, start your own lobby group, create, remix, mash up and continue to grow more heads on this amazing hydra that we know as the internets!
* Do not be afraid of using the network. Invite your friends to this and other file sharing systems. Calm people down if they’re upset. We need to stay united.

And say it loud say it proud! We are all The Pirate Bay!

and people ask why i didn’t get serato

not to mention that the new duo is only $350…not as good as pro — but probably enough for most.

studyguide

this morning i’m playing “study guide.”

it’s the new album from question and freddie joachim.

i haven’t been into mellow music like this since nightmares on wax.

madlib tried with yesterday’s new quintet — but it never felt right to me.

this one does.

the drag is that it’s only on itunes right now — these guys have been to every underground site and pulled the links.

i’ll find it…but for now check out this short sample:

moving slowly

fink. this is the thing. from the album distance and time.
here you go

sounds like sunshine

i can’t help it.

i dig vampire weekend.

The whole thing hung on a single rhythm, a voice, the incongruity of the equipment. Two keyboards, held single-handedly, because the guys had to carry them while playing (and finally had to put them on the ground.) An amazing drummer, deprived of his drums, who ended up in a deserted backyard, hitting cheerfully on yellow and green trash cans. Above all, a voice: Ezra’s, young and strong. It impressed us first when we were above the railroads at Gare du Nord, then again in a little café, back to the roots.
