The Culture Capture Champs catch Mos Def during a break in the studio while recording “The Ecstatic” . Hear how he dissects some of his favorite MF DOOM lyrics & talks a bit about his influences.
Btw, “The Ecstatic” comes out next week.
From Beef Rapp:
To all rappers shut up with ya shuttin up
And keep
your shirt on, at least a button up
Yuck, is they rhymers or
strippin males?
Outta work jerks since they shut down
Chippendale’s
They chippin nails, Doom… jippin
scales
Let alone the pre-orders that’s counted off
shippin sales
This one goes out to all my peoples skippin
bail
Dippin jail, whippin tail, and sippin ale
Light the
doobie til it glow like a ruby
After which they
couldn’t find the Villain like Scooby
He’s in the
lab on some old Buddha Monk shit
Overproof drunk shit, and
who’da thunk it?
Punk try an ask why ours be
better
It could be the iron mask or the Cosby
sweater
Yes, you, who’s screwed by the dude on the CD
nude (we need food!)
And here is one of my favorites: “Kookies,” by MF Doom. enjoy.

That $700 billion bailout has since grown into a more than $12 trillion commitment by the US government and the Federal Reserve.
That’s even more than I was estimating last year… and I posted in September that a Bloomberg analyst had it at $5 Trillion
btw, the US GDP in 2005 was just about that much ($12 Trillion)
and an article in the Yemen Times estimates about $12 Trillion as the opportunity cost of conflict in the Middle East.
You should definitely check out Andy Kroll’s article entitled, “The Greatest Swindle Ever Sold.”
Given the lack of transparency and accountability, don’t expect taxpayers to be able to object too much. After all, remarkably little is known about how TARP recipients have used the government aid received. Nonetheless, recent government reports, Congressional testimony and commentaries offer those patient enough to pore over hundreds of pages of material glimpses of just how Wall Street friendly the bailout actually is. Here, then, based on the most definitive data and analyses available, are six of the most blatant and alarming ways taxpayers have been scammed by the government’s $1.1-trillion, publicly funded bailout.

I bet you didn’t know the Milky Way was visible to the naked eye? Well you probably won’t be able to experience this wonder in an urban (street lights, building lights, etc.) environment, but that’s alright as a William Castleman created this time lapse video of the night sky as it passes over the 2009 Texas Star Party in Fort Davis, Texas. The galactic core of Milky Way is as bright as ever, and the images were taken with a 15mm fisheye lens.

This one is from 2004. I picked up the cd at a bbq from one of my Canadian friends. it played in my car for months…and then I lost it.
Lucky for me (and you, too), it’s available on the interweb.
It’s the mixtape by Floyd The Locsmif — he remixes Outkast tracks.

Outskirts: The Unofficial Lost Outkast Remixes.
I’m excited to play it again!!!!

pulled from the guardian:
De La Soul are to release their first new music in five years, but it’s not for chilling out or getting down – it’s for joggers. The 45-minute track was made for Nike, as part of their Nike+ series of music to run to.
“Let’s not call it a track, let’s call it a journey,” Vincent Mason, also known as Mase, told BBC 6 Music. But this isn’t a sprawling DJ set – it’s eight or nine original songs, recorded by De La Soul and then brought to producers Flosstradamus to “mix it all together”.
Previous Nike+ releases, all in partnership with Apple’s iPod, included those from LCD Soundsystem, Simian Mobile Disco and Aesop Rock.

you can find it on itunes and here
side note: I ran with it last week…and although the warm up takes too long, i enjoyed it thoroughly. try it on your next run
maybe it’s because it was the end of my run — but, i especially liked the track “forever.” get just that track here.

I just like the way that they sing…
Today’s song of the day is from Firefox AK.

“What’s That Sound?”
The album is import only. It’s called Madame, Madame
There’s a newer album…but I don’t think that I like it as much.
May 21
it’s pop/punk, simple, and certain to get old quickly… but it’s fun enough to be today’s song of the day.
plus, there’s a fun uk club remix (well, you decide that one…i’m on the fence)
i won’t mi-i-i-i-i-i-ind if you ….

The Internet search giant recently began crunching data from employee reviews and promotion and pay histories in a mathematical formula Google says can identify which of its 20,000 employees are most likely to quit.
Google’s algorithm helps the company “get inside people’s heads even before they know they might leave,” said Laszlo Bock, who runs human resources for the company.
kinda cool. kinda creepy. but i suppose that it’s similar to how life insurance companies predict your death w/ an algorithm.

and now damier buys 10%…for $50MM
they really needed the money…especially after Fisker just raised $85MM – and they don’t even build cars — all they do is customize BMW’s and Mercedes. Oh wait, a tesla is just a lotus elise with batteries.
The sad thing is now they are worth 1/2 of GM.
Add this fake viral video that they posted, and it’s obvious that these guys were desperate:
I’m all for electric cars…but not for bad management.

to the end of the dollar.
Brazil and China eye plan to axe dollar
Financial Times:
An aide to Mr Lula da Silva on his visit to Beijing said the political will to enact a similar deal with China was clearly present. “Something that would have been unthinkable 10 years ago is a real possibility today,” he said. “Strong currencies like the real and the renminbi are perfectly capable of being used as trade currencies, as is the case between Brazil and Argentina.”
In what was interpreted as a sign of Chinese concern about the future of the dollar, the governor of China’s central bank proposed in March that the US dollar be replaced as the world’s de-facto reserve currency.
In an essay posted on the People’s Bank of China’s website, Zhou Xiaochuan, the central bank’s governor, said the goal would be to create a reserve currency ”that is disconnected from individual nations” and modelled on the International Monetary Fund’s special drawing rights, or SDRs.
